We got our first snow of the year this past weekend. Kate has been so excited and all I could think about was last winter when she kept asking my dad to go out and get more snow for her to eat in her bowl. Kate and Beckett got a sled for Christmas and Kate has been itching to play with it. So we bundled up and ventured out. Our first attempt was a hot mess. Everyone’s things took up the whole entire living room and I got hot trying to get the kids dressed and not feel like a failure for not having snow pants for Kate. We bought 4T thinking they’d work but they were too big. We couldn’t find her pink hat either. Hence some random blue one that was used for Halloween a couple years ago when she was a Colts cheerleader. I had Beckett 90% bundled up on the kitchen table and as I’m putting on his booties he falls asleep. After a couple of hours went by we tried again. I grabbed the camera and we just played. It was fun but mostly exhausting. I could have easily talked Justin into buying a 4 wheeler at that moment so I didn’t have to run while pulling the sled.
So much is happening with the kids that I don’t want to forget. I try to jot down little notes in my day planner but it’s not doing much good. Kate is obsessed with swaying her head and her hair back and forth and is so incredibly smart. She’s just starting to get into her imagination and sings random songs to tunes she knows. Her puppy dog goes with her everywhere. She’s thankfully abandoned her corner blanket that she’s been attached to for years. Beckett crawls so fast now and even faster when you tell him no. He loves to go after the cat food. He’s just started to get his top teeth and waves hi to people. He’s sitting up really well and loves to clap and say yay. And he’s obsessed with the bath time and the tub in general. The other day he pulled himself up to standing on the tub wall. Kate and Beckett play so well together and are really just the best. They’ve literally been in their bedroom playing for 2 hours now during “quiet time” so I can get a break and do photos and blog posts. It’s really been a game changer so that I’m able to give complete (ok, almost complete) focus to what I’m working on and then give them complete focus during playtime after until Justin gets home and we start clean up and dinner.
