My Covid baby is 5 ya’ll. It doesn’t really feel real. He’ll be in Kindergarten this fall and for the first time in seven years I’ll be kid free. That’s a separate blog post but I am starting to process it and cherishing every moment I’ve got with B before school. Also, none of my blog posts are in order and that’s okay – so just roll with it like it’s planned. For a little while now Beck has been mesmarized with images of the galaxy. Not really space, planets, etc. just images of the night sky with the different hues of cyan, deep blues and purples and some hot pink. He’s still VERY much into monster trucks but I have noticed that lifting slightly and I jumped at the opportunity for a different theme for his party, though last year was technically Hot Wheels but still. Beck had also come to me after Kate’s party, clearly upset, and had asked why we do more fun things for Kate’s party with friends and not for him. My heart sank. I know he doesn’t remember his earlier parties but for 3 and 4 they were at home with just family. I’m pretty sure that’s how it was for Kate too but still. So I told him now that he was 5 we’d be skipping school, like with did with Kate, and spending the day just celebrating him together and inviting friends over for his party. We’ve actually decided this is going to be a new tradition for everyone in our family. Because why not. Anywho, Beck’s preschool had done a glow party last year and I opted to roll off of that with a cosmic glow party. His teacher was sweet enough to let us borrow the black lights and I ordered some neon supplies and face paint. I’m really getting into doing the balloon arches now and loved how this one came together with the galaxy backdrop. His party was actually super busy so I barely got any photos except for set up and at the end when he was opening presents. I’m really kicking myself for not having the tripod set up and at least recording him when everyone sang and he blew out his candles. It’s on a phone somewhere but it’s hard to do it all. None the less he had a blast and it was so much fun to hang with friends for the day. I will say I am super proud of his cake. I might not have gotten much sleep the night before making it but it was a fun challenge and I really love how it turned out. I’ve still got to do photos of him with everything and I want to start interviewing the kids on their birthdays. I kind of have with school but I need to work on it more.
Love you B
